Seeking Out Religion
I feel that people seek out religion to understand one's self. To know who you truly are, and why you, who is unlike anyone else, exists. In nature, it is the oldest life. The trees, plants, and the universe have all been here longer than human existence. When I was on the walk, nature felt peaceful to me, ancient, and full of secrets. In some ways, we are like nature. We can at times be peaceful, but we are all full of secrets. Since nature itself has been around for so long, people say it is closest to God. Human beings are always striving to be something better than they are, whether getting their is a dangerous road like being the leader of a gang, or a peaceful road, like being leader of UNICEF.
In Taoism, the basic idea of it is to find yourself through nature, and to not disturb the flow of nature. It was after all, not nature that produced pollution from cars and industries, to create harmful things. People who follow Taoism understand this and try to find themselves through the place that is closest to God, which is nature. I feel that being one with nature and to achieve self understanding can take a lifetime. This is not only to know what you need to know, but to experience more in your life. You can't say you understand life when you are 13, you don't know enough. I feel that people spend their whole lives being one with something they feel is closest to God or enlightenment, so that in the end, the can understand themselves.
